Menus change often, so the file should be easy to edit

Prices move, specials rotate, and a dish sells out. A menu you cannot edit quickly becomes a menu you print wrong. In BrochureBoss the menu is an ordinary document: click the text and retype it, use Find and replace to change a price everywhere it appears, and save a fresh PDF.

Keep the project in your free library, or download the .bboss file and store it with your other business files. Add pages for a longer menu, and choose a page size that suits it: Letter, Legal, Tabloid, A4, half letter, or custom dimensions.

Templates to start from

Two of the twelve templates are built for this, and a few more are useful.

  • Menu

A half-letter page (5.5 x 8.5 inches) with a dark background and gold accents, set up with a dish name, description, and price on each line.

  • Price list

Built on a table, so drinks, sides, or catering packages line up in a clean price column with a shaded header.

  • Bi-fold program

A quiet, serif layout that suits a tasting menu or a wine-dinner program.

  • Event flyer

Big type for a live-music night, a tasting, or a seasonal special.

  • Postcard

6 x 4 inches with merge fields, for mailing a reservation or event invitation to your list.

Print it the way a restaurant needs

Fonts embed in the PDF, so the print shop or your office printer sees the type you chose, including the display and serif faces that make a menu feel like yours. System fonts such as Arial and Times New Roman cannot embed, and the app warns you when a document uses one. For a folded, stapled menu, tick Booklet when you print: pages are placed in fold-and-staple order, and blank pages are added at the end to reach a multiple of four.

From a rough list to a printed menu

  1. Start with the Menu template

Click Templates and choose Menu, or build your own with text frames and a table.

  2. Type your dishes and prices

Replace the sample items, adjust sizes and colors, and add a page for desserts or drinks.

  3. Check and print

Run Check for spelling, then Print / PDF and Save as PDF. Turn on bleed if the design runs to the edge of the page.

Straight talk: BrochureBoss makes printed layouts and PDFs. It does not host an online menu, take orders, or print for you. Tables cannot merge cells yet, and colors are RGB, so a print shop that needs CMYK separations converts them.

Questions

  • Can I make a restaurant menu in BrochureBoss?

Yes. The Menu template is a half-letter page with a dark background and gold accents, and you can build any other menu from text frames, tables, and shapes.

  • How do I update prices without rebuilding the menu?

Open the saved project, change the text, or use Find and replace to change a price everywhere it appears, then save a new PDF.

  • Can I make a drinks list or a catering price list?

Yes. The Price list template is built on a table with columns for items and prices. Add rows and columns, shade the header, and set the grid weight.

  • Can I make a folded or multi-page menu?

Yes. Add pages, then tick Booklet when you print to get fold-and-staple page order. A booklet needs at least four pages, and blank pages are added to reach a multiple of four.

  • Will the fonts look right at the printer?

Web fonts embed in the PDF, so the printer sees what you saw. System fonts like Arial and Times New Roman cannot embed, and the app warns you if you use one.

  • Can I open an old Publisher menu?

Yes. Use Import .pub and the file opens as an editable layout. It is an approximation, and the app lists anything it could not bring across. See how to convert a .pub file to PDF if you only need a PDF.
