Small formats, set up for real printing

Small printed pieces have their own rules. The Business card template is 3.5 x 2 inches with 0.125 inches of bleed already set, so a print shop gets artwork that runs past the trim line. Turn on crop marks and the PDF carries a slug line naming the document and its trim size.

To print cards on your own printer, tick Multiple per sheet and pick the paper: Letter, Letter landscape, Legal, A4, or Tabloid. The app works out how many copies fit and how many go across and down, centers the block on the sheet, and shows you the count before it prints. With crop marks on, it adds cut marks for trimming.

Templates to start from

Three of the twelve templates are built for small formats.

  • Business card

3.5 x 2 inches with bleed set for a print shop. Add your name, title, phone, and email.

  • Postcard

6 x 4 inches with merge fields for first name, last name, address, city, state, and ZIP, ready for a CSV.

  • Mailing labels

Thirty labels per sheet, three across, with merge fields ready.

Merge from a spreadsheet

Load a CSV, insert fields into text or a table cell, and step through the records on screen. Check warns you about fields with no matching column before anything prints, and Merge and print runs one copy per record, up to 500 records per print run. Use it for postcards to a customer list, thank-you letters, or a full sheet of address labels.

My details stores your name, job title, address, phone, email, website, and license number once, so a card and a letterhead always agree.

A card ready for the printer

  1. Start from the template

Choose Business card, replace the sample text, and add your logo as a picture.

  2. Check the setup

Leave Print bleed on, add crop marks if the shop wants them, and run Check for spelling and picture resolution.

  3. Print or save

Choose Print / PDF. Tick Multiple per sheet to print several cards on a Letter sheet, or Save as PDF for the print shop.

Straight talk: Coming from Publisher? Publisher keeps a business card at its real size and prints several per sheet, and the converter loses that page size. An imported card can arrive as a small object in the corner of a Letter page. Use Fit page to set the page to the artwork, then tick Multiple per sheet when you print.

Questions

  • Can I design business cards in BrochureBoss?

Yes. The Business card template is 3.5 x 2 inches with bleed set, and you can change the layout, fonts, colors, and pictures.

  • Does it support bleed and crop marks?

Yes. Print bleed is on by default, and crop marks are an option with a slug line naming the document and its trim size. Colors are RGB, so a shop that needs CMYK separations converts them.

  • How do I print several cards on one sheet?

Tick Multiple per sheet in the print bar and choose the sheet size. The app tells you how many fit before it prints.

  • Can I merge a mailing list onto postcards?

Yes. The Postcard template has merge fields ready. Load a CSV, preview the records, and print one copy per record, up to 500 per print run.

  • What do the mailing labels look like?

The Mailing labels template holds 30 labels per sheet, three across, with merge fields for name and address. Load your CSV and print one label per record.

  • Can I open a business card made in Publisher?

Yes, with Import .pub. The page size may be lost, so use Fit page and then Multiple per sheet. The import is an approximation, and the app lists what it skipped.
